Lucy

Finding Lucy as a homeless, pregnant cat started this whole Disadvantaged Cats endeavor. Lucy captivated us with her striking green eyes, beautiful coloring and laid-back personality. She managed to maintain herself despite giving birth in a strange home with a big dog and two other cats. She quickly let the rest of the animals know who was boss, much to their displesure. Nico is still holding a grudge. Andy would have tore into her after she bloodied his nose if we hadn't scolded him.
I sent Bill and Char a picture of Lucy and asked them if they wanted to adopt her. They said yes. THEN I told them that she was pregnant. I agreed to get her through her pregnancy first and then they could adopt her. Within two weeks she gave birth to six kitties. She climbed into my lap when she went into labor and a couple hours later I videotaped the whole delivery. It was an amazing experience.
Lucy got very sick after the delivery. So sick I thought she was going to die. She pulled through but never regained her health. Caring for six kitties kept her rundown and weak. After six weeks she started to get very sick again and I decided she needed to be done nursing. I wanted to get her well before I brought her to my brother's house so they wouldn't have to deal with a sick cat but they told me to bring her anyway.
Lucy fit right in. Within three days her health had improved dramatically and she had caught and ate a cricket that had been bothering Bill and Char. She has wormed her way into Bill's heart with her calm, affectionate demeanor. And she is a beauty. Lucky Lucy, she found a home where chicken is on the menu every day and she will be able to live the rest of her days in love and comfort.
Award for patience
The award for patience goes to Andy dog for putting up with a cat that clawed him in the nose multiple times, to kitties that considered him their surrogate mother and tried to nurse on him.
